Stop in to see the opening of Bondedpaper by Emrose in our Lavatory Gallery. We'll have art on display through June 15th.
Emrose is a Ballard-born papercrafter and mixed-media artist specializing in the formation of layers to convey her ideas. She graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in design and picked up her minimalist style from studying and working around the uncluttered design language that goes into product and user experience design. Combined with her love of needlepoint, her Bondedpaper line explores the intricate shapes and patterns of Shibari rope tying through paper and thread while staying true to the simplicity of minimalism. Bondedpaper started as a way to express sexuality in a simple and gentle way, and has since evolved to become an exploration of the human body and embroidery techniques. The neat, clean lines and methodical process of both Shibari and needlepoint illustrates the thought, patience, and perfectionism Emrose puts into all of her artwork. Other works of hers stay within the layered paper style of illustration, but are often larger and more detailed, using as many layers as the paper will support to show the depth of each piece.
To stay up to date and see her most recent work, check out at @bondedpaper on Instagram or contact her for more info on her other works.
