For our Summer Salon we have combed through our flat files and the back room to present you a fun and eclectic selection of unique prints that we have never shown on our gallery walls. From colorful contemporary prints, rare early 20th century photograms to hand-painted Hungarian cabinet cards from the 1880s this show will have something for everyone who loves one-of-a-kind photographic prints. Join us for the opening during the Ballard Night Out art walk on Thursday, July 20th from 6-9pm.

These cyanotype photograms on hand-marbled Japanese paper by Paula Riff are evocative prints from her What's love got to do with it? series that explores the range of emotions and ups and downs of relationships. Both processes of marbling and making photograms have elements of surprise and chance, very much like falling in and out of love. So love has everything to do with it.
Daniel Kukla was on an ship in the sub zero Arctic Circle and channeled his frustration with the failing Impossible Project's new Polaroid film into artistic success with these gorgeous hand-manipulated prints of abstracted Arctic landscapes. We have previously shown his Proving Grounds FujiFilm Arctic prints but not this very limited set of Polaroid prints.
The Penetrating the Veil series of cameraless c-print chemigrams by Andrew K. Thompson is a powerful attempt to use the destructive gesture of manipulating the surface of the photographic paper to express unarticulated emotions behind the facades of everyday relationships. We have available an exclusive selection of mini 4x5 printsfrom this series whose exhibition prints are normally much much larger.
Ballard Night Out is presented by Push/Pull - supporting arts and cultural events in Ballard's 98107 & 98117 zip codes.
