Opening of Kelly Christy's show PLUS One Night Only With artist Julia Wald & musician Billy Brandt at Verity Credit Union
Artist: Kelly Christy opening, plus artist Julia Wald & musician Billy Brandt one night only
Venue: Verity Credit Union / 5711 24th Ave NW
Event: September 21st 6pm - 9pm
We will be featuring hats by Verity member Kelly Christy, a milliner whose work has been showcased in the Smithsonian and multiple national publications. She used to run a boutique in New York and now lives in Seattle and sells her hats online.
Billy Brandt (http://billybrandtmusic.com/) is a Seattle musician who blends jazz, rock, blues and soul with his singing and songwriting. He will be performing live during the Ballard Night Out. We will also be featuring the large collage pieces of Julia Wald. Julia Wald is a Seattle artist formerly from the Rust Belt. Her india ink work reflects her fears and fantasies from growing up in a provincial environment of urban proverty. Wald's work ranges from lighthearted intricate googly-eyed bugs and fish, tiny monsters on index cards, large elaborate cityscapes, and mixed-media portrait collages. Wald's collage work combines original illustrations and hand-cut paper to create pieces that are more powerful than their individual parts. Wald's work uses india ink in my forms and shows the versatility of ink work.
