Venue: Populuxe Brewing 826 NW 49th St
Event: November 15th 6pm - 9pm

"Taking Notes" is Rebekah Bastian's first public art showing. In her role as VP of Community & Culture at Zillow Group, Rebekah finds that she is able to better focus her thoughts and attention in meetings by drawing. Through a medium of post-it notes, sharpies and highlighters, Rebekah has "taken notes" in hundreds of meetings. She has then created unique electrical-tape frames and matted these pieces into a whimsical collection of high-fidelity doodles. All proceeds from this art show will go to Bellwether Housing to help build affordable housing in Seattle.

Venue: Northminster Presbyterian Church
7720 25th Ave NW
Event: November 15th 7pm

Is the commonly understood separation between the sacred and the ordinary a helpful distinction? Or do the boundaries between sacred and ordinary become blurry depending on perspective? This installation examines the connections between sacred and ordinary by looking at the every day spaces that we live. By this close reflection on the places where we live our lives, we'll look together at how the sacred and the ordinary intersect, overlap, and become one and the same.

We've invited our Push/Pull Crew to contribute art to a "take it home for the holidays show" - unlike our usual shows, this one is not themed but most pieces will be under $100 and ready to go home with you when you purchase.

We'll also be releasing the second Collective Conscience anthology of member work, featuring comics and illustrations. This year's cover is by Maxx FG Art.

Amanda M Jorgenson is a Natural Science Illustrator, whose art focuses both on the familiar and elusive flora and fauna found in the Pacific Northwest.

Amanda's earliest art education took place in an Inupiaq village called Brevig Mission in Northwest Alaska. There she was educated by Inupiaq carvers, painters and drawers who told her the stories behind every element of our natural world – and their influence on the Inupiaq culture - which would find their way into the artistic renderings. Close proximity to creatures and nature provided Amanda with background knowledge in the natural sciences, knowing Native artists provided an example on storytelling through visual art, which she has followed over the years.

Amanda's art will be on display September 20th - October 16th.
